Grilled to perfection

We’re spoilt for choice here in the capital with superb restaurants and narrowing down one for a special occasion is no easy feat. However, for quality of food, ambience and service, it is hard to beat the Park Bar & Grill on Saadiyat Island.

The Park Hyatt’s signature restaurant has already picked up numerous awards and after paying a visit, we could easily understand why.

Although elegant and classy inside, we chose to eat outside on the large terrace to enjoy the fantastic evening weather and stunning setting overlooking the delicately lit gardens and pool.

As an Asian theme permeates through the menu we chose the local blue crab cakes to start, accompanied with Asian coleslaw and nam jim dressing, while our dining partner opted for the Vietnamese rice paper roll crammed full of roast duck, mint and sweet chilli sauce. Perfectly presented, both dishes were delectable and just had to be shared.

There’s an expansive choice on the menu for the main course with options to excite all tastebuds. We were sorely tempted to try the grilled seafood platter, comprising Omani lobster, Alaskan king crab legs, king prawns, sea bream and cuttlefish, but were unable to resist the allure of a charcoal-grilled steak.

We chose the Australian striploin along with black pepper sauce, asparagus and fries and our guest, the slow-cooked BBQ short rib with thyme polenta and root vegetables. Again both dishes were exquisitely presented and cooked. Not a morsel remained on either plate.

We could only find room for one dessert to share so opted for the vanilla bean crème brulee with dried cranberries. A perfect end to a perfect meal.
