Whatever your passion – football, rugby, tennis, golf or motor racing – there’s nothing better than meeting up with a few friends for food, drinks and some vicarious sporting pleasure.

And there aren’t many places better suited for this than The Retreat, the stylish new sports lounge at the Westin Abu Dhabi Golf Resort & Spa.

Located at the rear of the hotel with stunning uninterrupted views of the driving range and the flowing greens of Abu Dhabi Golf Club’s National Course, we think The Retreat is the perfect spot to unwind – whether it’s relaxing after a hard morning’s golf, taking in some afternoon sun on the expansive outdoor terrace or keeping up-to-date with the latest sporting action on one of the three big screen TVs.

In line with the adjacent course, the décor follows a ‘nature in motion’ theme. Flowing water features lead us into the bar, while the liberal use of earthy colours and natural materials give the interior an airy yet comfortable feel.

Once we’re inside the bar, a mixture of comfy, secluded lounge areas and more traditional bar stools, tables and chairs are strategically scattered around, all of them offering prime viewing of at least one of the screens, ensuring you don’t miss a single second of the action.

If you’re hungry, then the food’s not bad either. Don’t expect anything too fancy, but there’s a great mix of modern pub-inspired dishes – everything from quick snacks and salads to hearty mains and tasty desserts. This is comfort food of the highest order and, best of all, to wash it down, they have the widest selection of draught beverages we’ve seen in quite a while.

All in all we have to say we’re impressed. Sport on tap, great food and drinks galore – what more could you ask for?
