More than a thousand people enjoyed Yas Marina’s Splash@Yas family fun day recently – both on and off the water.
The main attraction was the chance to try a variety of water sports, with local specialist Watercooled offering taster sessions in stand-up paddling, dinghy sailing, wakeboards, waterskiing and kayaking. And for those who like taking it easy, there was the sea sofa – a high-speed tow along the channel between Yas Marina and the mainland.
On dry land Splash@Yas still had plenty to offer. As well as the Marina’s eight restaurants there was the tricky surfboard simulator, Mad Science’s water workshops, a magician and pirate football with ProActive’s Mini Kickers coaches. The younger ones entertained themselves on the inflatables with slides and tunnels to explore, or took to the arts & crafts tables to spend a creative afternoon in the sun.
The unexpected treat was the arrival of Santa – by boat, naturally – and as dusk fell the Marina’s regular 6pm free outdoor movie theatre showed Finding Nemo.
