Etihad Airways has been named Airline of the Year by Global Traveler magazine, soaring away with another award to add to its collection this week.
The judging panel at the leading American magazine selected Etihad Airways for the title with the airline also winning awards for Best Airline for First Class and Best Airport Lounges; which were voted for by Global Traveler readers.
The Global Traveler success caps a highly successful week for Etihad Airways with the airline being presented with the World Travel Awards coveted title of World’s Leading Airline for the fifth consecutive year.
James Hogan Etihad Airways president and chief executives officer was very happy with the accolade, saying: “The Global Traveler award recognises the very best that the industry has to offer and we are delighted that in our tenth year of operations Etihad Airways has been chosen as the Airline of the Year.”
Francis X. Gallagher, publisher and CEO of Global Traveler said: “Every trip I take with Etihad Airways is enormously pleasurable and something I treasure and always look forward to.”
Etihad, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates which began operations in 2003, also won the World Travel titles for World’s Leading Airline Cabin Crew and World’s Leading Airline First Class.
Etihad carried 10.3 million passengers last year, and offers flights to destinations all around the world.
