Get your skates on and head on down to Zayed Sport City
UAE’s figure skating champion and Olympic-hopeful, Zahra Lari, has opened Emirates Skating Club in Zayed Sports City’s ice rink.
The studio teaches choreography, stretching and stamina-building. Zahra says, “We help both skaters and non-skaters attain their maximum potential.”
But figure skating is more than a sport, according to Zahra’s coach Yevhen Kovalov. He says, “Skating is an art that combines sport, stamina and grace.”
The studio is appropriate for figure skaters of all levels as well as dancers, martial arts practitioners and anyone wanting to cross-train.
A harness is available off the ice to help skaters learning how to jump, as it provides the sensation of jumping while giving them the chance to maintain the correct position in the air.
