The value of education

What is education? It’s more than just the subjects that are taught in school such as science, maths, language and social studies. Education refers to anything you learn, anything that increases your knowledge

While a lot of things contribute to a person’s education, the importance of education can be defined this way: an uneducated person cannot see behind the wall but an educated person can.

How can a person see behind a wall? Education broadens the thinking of a person so that their thinking is not narrow-minded like an uneducated person. For example if an educated person wins a sum of money in a lottery, that person will think to use a portion of his winnings on things which may benefit humanity such as opening an educational institution or give it to charity. An uneducated person will never think of others and would most likely spend the whole amount on himself or herself.

Women are most often the ones who train their children; for this reason, education for women is very necessary to form an educated society. Investment in the education sector is very important for the growth of any country.

But it’s not only women who need to be educated. Education teaches a person what to do and what not to do because it broads a person's capability of thinking. It is one of the institutions of society which serves as a ground for the formation of society because education not only teaches you about many subjects but it plays an important role in the development of a person’s personality.

Education teaches you how to behave in society, what role as a human you should play in society, it teaches you how to respond when someone needs help, it teaches you why cleanliness is necessary and what measures should be taken by you regarding it. It teaches you love for the country, it teaches you to care for humanity and it eliminates selfishness from society because education makes a person aware of good and bad. Education helps to form a strong and peaceful society.

Where there is no education, there are a lot of problems and education is only a long term solution of many problems such as terrorism, which cannot be defeated by war but need to have a good education system to educate people on the purpose of life and its importance.
