Your Abu Dhabi - Aruna Rani

Aruna is 24 years old and has lived in Abu Dhabi for two years and seven months. She moved to Abu Dhabi from the Punjab region in India. Aruna works as a waxing and threading technician in a nail salon. Abu Dhabi Week asked Aruna what are the five things she likes most about living in Abu Dhabi.

The Grand Mosque
I live in Khalifa City and always I pass round the way of the mosque on the way to and from work. Even if I am talking with my friends, or eating, I will stop to see it. I see it and it gives me so much peace, it’s like a paradise! I don’t know how to explain it. I have been inside, it is beautiful. Two times I have gone there with my friends.

Emirates Palace
The second thing I love about Abu Dhabi is Emirates Palace, it’s also so nice! It’s like a masterpiece. I liked the colours, but I like the outside of the Palace best and the beach is very beautiful.

Marina Mall
The salon I work in is in Marina Mall. I love the surroundings, looking out to the sea. When I finish my work I stand outside, and from there I can see the sky and the buildings and it is very nice. I also like that it is so easy for me working here, I can go and buy food and other shopping when I finish my work.

The Corniche
In the evening, when the sun is setting, I like to go to watch. I love it in the evening time. If we have a birthday for someone here, we celebrate on the Corniche. The nicest place is just near the park, where there is the open beach – I like feeling the sand.

Madinat Zayed
There are two shopping complexes there called Madinat Zayed, one for gold and the other one for everything. If I want something, I go there with my friends because if I need to find something, they have it … there are so many restaurants there! Indian, Pakistani, Arabic – so I can find my choice, any kind of food.

Have your say
