It’s that time of year again, when everyone thinks of resolutions and a new set of do’s and don’ts. But this time think out of the box – check out these eleven things you have to have, see and do in the coming year:
- National ID: Of course, you have to have your UAE national ID by 2011 or else you won’t even be able to order a pizza by phone.
- A road sign saying “End of works on Salam Street”: As work nears completion, every driver in town is eagerly looking forward to this glorious day.
- Residential parking permits: If you don’t have one by now, you will be fined this year – even if your car is parked during free hours.
- Wider roads: With the city of Abu Dhabi already flooded with cars, the demand for wider roads is rising each day.
- Rain: It has been a long time since showers showed up in Abu Dhabi – the urban desert deserves some change.
- Yas Island: With so much to enjoy at Yas, no one can miss the chance to come here. It’s sure to bring a whole heap of visitors, both from the UAE and around the world.
- Deflation: In the new year, it is expected for the price of basic commodities to come down – good news for just about everyone.
- Trees: After raising so much of awareness about the environment this year, we should soon see a greener Abu Dhabi – so why do they keep taking out the trees on Airport Road?
- The end of Harry Potter: All Potter fans hearts’ are beating fast – we can’t wait for Part 2 of the Deathly Hallows!
- A trip to Ferrari World: Whether you go now or wait a couple of months in hopes of ticket prices coming down, you simply MUST get yourself out to the world’s best theme park.
- Four solar and two lunar eclipses: There are six eclipses expected this year – in addition, the meteorite shower will turn many faces towards the sky.
