Five best bookshops in Abu Dhabi

Nothing beats a great read. Here are the capital’s top shops for books.

1. Magrudy’s in Al Wahda Mall: Undoubtedly the most complete bookshop in the capital, Magrudy’s has every book you could possibly want – and if it’s not in stock, they can order it for you. No wonder it’s the first stop for teachers and schools.

2. United Bookstore in the Mina Center at Port Zayed: The largest bookshop in the UAE, the United Bookstore is a well-kept secret. Though boasting a huge selection of books and workbooks, this shop has an even more impressive range of educational toys for kids.

3. Bookworm in Khalidiya Mall: Chock-a-block with books, games, and project-style things for kids, Bookworm is simply crawling with stuff your children will love. A great spot for holiday buying.

4. All Prints on 5th/Hamdan Street: Though better known for its gigantic selection of stationary and art supplies, All Prints is also heavy on books for both children and adults. A great place to look for academic books.

5. The Book Gallery in Abu Dhabi Mall: Also known as Jashanmal Bookstores, this spacious shop carries not only a wide selection of books and videos but also a huge variety of greeting cards. Grab a book and have a coffee at the in-store coffee shop.

To be fair, this article was prepared and published two years ago. A lot can change in that time ...

I disagree with Number 2. United Bookstore sells books which are more costly compared to other bookstores. Since the day that I discovered I had bought a book from there which cost atleast 15 dhs cheaper elsewhere, I have felt let down by the bookstore!
Have your say
