Signature bliss
After a particularly tough week of sitting at our desk for 12+ hours a day, there’s nothing we like more than booking ourselves in for a massage on a Thursday evening. Big fans of Tips & Toes, we’d heard that they had a 90-minute Signature Massage that we hadn’t tried yet. So we hot-footed it down to the Deluxe Villas in Khalifa City to give it a whirl.
The usual questionnaire out of the way, it’s up the candlelit stairs to the second floor and treatment rooms. Although not large, each of the rooms is warm and comforting, with the massage bed surrounded by mirrors, soft drapes and the usual supply of fluffy white towels. The music is loud enough to drown out any exterior noise, but not obtrusive. It’s just right for us, and as we nestle our face in the cushioned headrest of the bed we begin to feel just how tense our neck and shoulders really are – our therapist will have her work cut out!
Once we're covered in warm towels, she begins with a little shiatsu and gentle stretching. But instead of the usual cursory prod, this continues for some time – so much so that we’re already nodding off before she even removes our towel to apply the oil. We barely stir as the wonderfully warm rosemary and fennel scented oil is drizzled over our aching limbs, and we drift even further into la-la-land as she begins a series of long, strong strokes down our back, pulling out every ounce of tension.
Next our therapist applies hot stones to our most stubborn knots, smoothing them onto our skin and then using them to massage out the tension. After the standard massage we’ve already received, this is an extra special treat and by the time she’s finished working her way up our legs we’re literally melting into the bed.
This is utter indulgence for any massage enthusiast in delightfully luxurious surroundings, and great value at just
AED 320 for 90-minutes of pampering.
