So what’s the deal?
We’ve been desperate to try out the stunning new branch of Tips and Toes finally open in Khalifa City A. Though we've lost heaps of weight thanks to our diligent fitness programme, our thighs are still littered with cellulite so we opt for the Green Coffee Body Wrap.
We start with a question/answer session with our therapist Made (sounds like MAH-day) who determines we need to start with a body polish. Using scrubbing salts mixed with gorgeously scented essential oils, Made removes dead skin and works to reduce our water retention. After a thorough scrub we’re sent to the most beautiful bathroom we’ve ever seen for a shower.
Ready for battle, Made slathers powerful Pevonia brand cream onto the usual cellulite suspects – our hips, thighs and stomach – with a warning that our skin may start to feel itchy, and in moments our skin is tingly. Next she adds a layer of green coffee stew to our entire body then wraps us up like a spring roll and leaves us to cook in the heavy thermal blanket. Fifteen minutes passes quickly and we’re ready for another shower. Made finishes by applying another thin layer of cellulite cream on the worst areas then a combination of moisturiser and dry oil to rehydrate our thirsty skin.
Why go?
Though one treatment will never be enough to eliminate years of deeply entrenched cellulite, we can certainly see a difference walking out the door – and plenty of visits to the ladies room is testament to the fact that our water retention is working itself out by the usual channels.
And why not?
For all its benefits, green coffee is perhaps not the most pleasant fragrance you’ll encounter – though you’ll smell divine in the end. Also, your therapist will apply the substance to everything outside those tiny disposable knickers from neck down so if you’re squeamish about that sort of thing, be warned.
