A visit to Sister’s Beauty Lounge Abu Dhabi is always a pleasure, so when we received an invite to try out their latest Shiffa Luxury Facial we almost squeaked with excitement.
We first discovered the wonderful range of Shiffa products on a visit to Six Senses Zighy Bay and we’ve since become addicted to the Healing Balm from the Dubai-based natural skin care specialist. A soothing blend of chamomile, Indian neem, lavender, meadowfoam, rosemary and arnica, this wonder balm can literally be used on any part of our body needing a little TLC.
Imagine our excitement then to learn that the facial included a Healing Balm face massage!
Designed to suit all skin types, the Shiffa Luxury Facial is tailored to each individual’s skin needs so expect to answer a lot of questions before you get started. Instead of this being a tedious affair though, the therapist will pop your feet in a nice warm bath while she bombards you with questions.
Snuggled in layers of warm blankets and with a heated pillow wrapped around our neck, the treatment itself starts with a facial cleanse, followed by a gentle exfoliation to get rid of any dry skin. Although fairly standard procedure, we were already enjoying ourselves as each and every product used smelt good enough to eat.
Cleansed and polished, it was time for some steam and a round of extraction. We usually hate this section of the facial, when most therapists insist on scouring your face for every hint of a blackhead, leaving you red faced and swollen. We were pleasantly surprised by the gentle touch of our therapist for this treatment (so gentle we barely noticed).
This was swiftly followed by the repairing organic honey facemask and cool compress. The facemask was absolutely delicious, so delicious in fact that we actually sneaked a lick of the honey, but we found the compress a little strange (and a little uncomfortable as the cold towels were a bit of a shock). The benefit was almost instant though as our skin began to tighten so we can’t complain.
This was followed by a lymphatic facial massage – using our favourite Healing Balm – and yet another face mask. Our therapist picked out a rose scented mask, the scent of which nearly saw us drifting off to sleep while she finished the treatment with a relaxing hand and foot massage.
