Thai Herbal Massage - Yengi Spa

Natural calm

naturalcalm

Yengi Spa is tucked away in one of those inconspicuous multi-use towers behind ADNIC on Khalifa Street. Despite it’s rather modest exterior, inside Yengi Spa’s spacious setting offers an expansive host of treatments, from massages to manicures.

With expert trained Thai staff, there’s no better place to try a real Thai massage. Throw in some wonderfully scented, heated herbs and an hour to spare and you will find body and mind on the road to recovery with a truly healing treatment.

So what’s the deal?

Those used to stretching out on a massage bed are in for a slight surprise; the massage takes place on a mattress laid out the floor, with a pillow, to aid the more strenuous manoeuvres applied by the therapist.
Dressed in some rather fun, traditional Thai harem pants, you’re laid under a towel for the treatment – the towel provides a damper between your skin and the hot herbal pouch.

With meticulous precision, the therapist applies pressure from your toes and up to your scalp. It’s a massage without the use of oils; instead, the therapist stimulates blood flow with fluid, firm movements and with expert precision, works out tension and muscle ailments, aided by the heated herbs applied to the skin.

It’s a thorough treatment too – back and front are worked over before you sit, and with a final exertion, the therapist pummels out any tension from the back, with a rather satisfying ‘click’.

Why go?

This is a treatment that doesn’t rely on the frills of a fancy room or luxurious products. Instead you can expect the real deal: the knowledge of expert therapists exerting authentic practices.

Why not?

This isn’t a treatment for the faint-hearted. Allow your body to relax – a tense body won’t take so kindly to some of the pressure points your therapist may target; un-tense those muscles and you’ll really feel the benefits. Also be sure to mention when those herb pouches start to feel a little too hot for your skin's liking.
