That’s a wrap!
So what’s the deal?
The hot, dry weather has taken its toll on our skin, especially when paired with the office air conditioning, so when Abu Dhabi Week was offered to try the rose and honey linen wrap at Shangri-La Hotel’s Chi Spa – specifically recommended for skin such as ours – we were in their cosy waiting area sipping on ginger tea faster than you could say “pamper me perfect, please”.
We like that the word ‘healing’ is a major part of what this holistic haven does. And the treatment promises to deliver by accelerating cell renewal and stimulating the skin’s self-protecting ability, with a few added silky smooth and sweet-smelling perks. Starting with a gentle cleansing rose petal and coconut milk foot bath, we’re then laid on the treatment bed for a mild, stimulating body brush and massage. And here’s when things get particularly sticky: pure honey is applied from head to toe before being wrapped in plastic for twenty minutes and given a pleasant head massage. A thorough shower ends off the session and gives way to petal soft skin exuding a heady, flowery scent.
Why go?
It’s a fun treatment packed with natural skin benefiting goodness. Don’t fancy the sticky stuff? With its opulent facilities and treatment rooms, plus tailor-made therapies, Chi is like another world – and one where you are queen bee.
Why not?
It’s not exactly the most relaxing treatment, especially if you’re prone to claustrophobia – or if you’re not a fan of being smothered in food.
