So what’s the deal?

Lacklustre lashes in need of a boost? Try eyelash extensions at Dashing Nails – you’ll have show-stopping stunners in no time. Well, not quite. Be prepared to spend two hours laid flat and held at tweezer point. But don’t worry – it is in no way painful or dangerous and the technician is skilled, and thankfully patient.

Abu Dhabi Week decided on a suitable (un-showgirl-like) upgrade – Dashing Nails offer synthetic single fibre polyester thread-like lashes from 6.15mm up to a skin grazing 14.2mm in length. The lower lashes are carefully taped down so they don’t get in the way of the sticky procedure which involves the individual placing of some 30-80 lashes as close as possible to the roots of your real lashes, held in place by an eye-watering surgical grade Platinum Bond glue. Once dry (it takes a couple minutes of much needed fanning), you’re all set with fool proof fluttery lashes for the next three to four weeks. Just don’t get them wet for the first 12-24 hours though, or they’ll be gone before you know it.

Why go?

You’d be surprised how much difference a few extra lashes make. With fuller looking lashes, Abu Dhabi Week feels significantly more feminine and flirty. And the lashes look and feel absolutely natural.

And why not?

Procedure wise, it’s awfully dull to sit through, so it’s best to bring your own entertainment such as an MP3 music player. Post procedure, there’s also a lot of fine print to consider. Moisturisers, eye creams, make-up removers, waterproof mascaras and any products containing glycols, organic solvents or urea should be avoided, as they can potentially break down the adhesive bond and shorten the life span of the lashes. You’re also advised not to curl or pull on them (not that you’d want to anyway, we’d hope). Ok, so you can never touch them; for those reasons, perhaps save this treatment for an extra special occasion.
