So what's the deal?
Concept 1010 is a revolutionary idea that claims to be so effective that a weekly 20 minute high-intensity routine is apparently all it takes to keep your body looking and feeling its best. The programme focuses on six different exercises performed on state-of-the-art weight training equipment. Each one targets a different group of muscles, and helps improve strength and endurance, rebuild bones and muscles, restore vitality and safely postpone the ageing process. Sounds like a challenge Abu Dhabi Week is willing to take on...

Seated in a private training room, the introduction and consultation reveals that on average, a person loses 250 grams of muscle a year from age 25 onwards. The personal trainer also explains that the more muscle you have, the more calories you burn – very muscular people even burn calories in their sleep. We’ll have what they’re having, please.

After testing each machine to determine the right settings for the individual (so that they can be preset for future sessions), the real gruelling stuff begins. Each routine is performed repeatedly for up to three minutes at a painfully slow pace (ten seconds each) until complete muscle failure is achieved.

Why go?
It’s perfect for people who want to get fit but haven’t the time, or simply don’t want to invest in it.

Why not?
Prepare to test your pain threshold; the purpose of achieving muscle failure is to break down old muscle tissue, making room for new and improved tissue. And it’s as painful as it sounds.
