In pursuit of happiness

Abu Dhabi Week tried out the 75-minute Happy Colour Earth Elements Treatment to restore some inner peace – and some outer glow.

Yengi Spa has positioned itself rather smartly in the centre of Abu Dhabi, a five-minute walk from the Millennium Hotel, making it the premiere destination for their spa-seeking clients.

So what's the deal?
The treatment starts with a very thorough cleansing ritual – a firm but refreshing facial and décolletage scrub. A strange vacuum-like device on a curious looking machine then relieves the skin of a host of baddies including dead skin and impurities. A facial steam follows, then another arm on the machine zaps away any remaining bacteria; the machine can perform a myriad of other tasks for different skin types to oxygenate the skin, tighten the pores and aid anti-ageing.

After a series of pleasant scented facial massages, the Dr Renaud ‘happy mask’ is then applied using colourful potions made of natural cocoa, olive, carrot, lettuce, celery and aubergine extracts, and more. We’re told the blue potion represents the element Water, repairing and de-stressing the face. The green is Wood – good for tackling ageing skin. Red represents Fire and gives radiance. Yellow is Earth, which provides a general sense of wellbeing, while white (Metal) caters to combination and oily skin. Left to soak for 20 minutes, we were further spoilt with a really good Thai massage for arms and legs to round up the session.

Why go?
Our skin’s silky soft and significantly less blemished. There’s an even, matte finish to it that makes us happy as promised - inside and out - and it lasts too. Neck and chest area weren’t neglected either.

Why not?
We’re still struggling to think of a reason – plus it dampens our new happy mood and creases up our new smooth skin when we try to.

Where?
