Party pool side

Think there’s not much going on in the Garden City? Think again. We took the kids down for a session of giraffe feeding at Al Ain Wildlife Park and Resort and stumbled across one rocking party that was straight up off the hook. Al Ain Rotana’s monthly pool party was the unlikely scene of a night of wild dancing and big fun, made that bit more entertaining with the help of our two youngest editorial assistants.

At first glance, the event clearly had plenty on offer for the adults with a DJ spinning the hottest music and specials on buckets of frosty beverages. We especially loved the two dancers on stage alongside the DJ showing the crowd how to get the job done – all while wearing gold lamé dresses so short they barely qualified as clothing.

Despite the mildly inappropriate attire of the dancers, the party was equally appealing to our small helpers. At the ages of four and six, they were a little intimidated by the dance floor – unlike plenty of their peers who were happy to shake their tiny booties on the specially erected floor. Instead, we cleared our own spot for some table side dancing in the grass. Once we were able to lure them back to the table, that is.

Our kids spent much of their time running around on the human foosball court, playing on the huge expanse of lawn and eyeing the Wii – all set up for their enjoyment in the open air. Though no one was actually in the pool, there were plenty of life guards on hand.

At 10pm – it was the weekend, after all – our kids were still dancing and running with the other little party goers in attendance, giving their parents an opportunity to enjoy a proper night out without the guilt of leaving the kids behind. We reckoned once the children eventually wound down and headed off to bed, the single folks on hand would crank that party up.

The next pool party will happen Saturday 8th October. To find out more, call 03 754 5111.
