Members of the Australian cricket team made a surprise visit to Aussies Abroad’s ANZAC Sunset Service. They joined the Turkish Ambassador, HE Haki Aqil, and the Australian Ambassador, HE Jeremy Bruer, to commemorate ANZAC Day along with Aussie Abroad members and friends. (ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps, whose members were known as ANZACs.) The Remembrance Day service was held on 25th April to mark the anniversary of those Australian, New Zealand and Turkish men and women who died in the Gallipoli campaign during WWI. The service was held at The Club, Meena Sadiyat, and the following BBQ was attended by over 300, including the members of the Australian cricket team—in Abu Dhabi for the one-day international series against Pakistan.
