Dinner at Le Deck

Tasty terrace

Despite its somewhat remote location the Monte Carlo Beach Club (MCBC) has been creating quite a buzz among our fellow Abu Dhabians so we thought it was about time we ventured out for a look.

After a dark and dusty drive we were very pleased to see the warm, welcoming lights of MCBC. Stepping in through the grand doors we took a seat on to the terrace of Le Deck. Wow! If alfresco dining is your thing then you will not be disappointed.

Perched on the end of the terrace our table commanded views of the neighbouring Sea Lounge as well as the main pool and cabanas of the club itself. Lit up for the evening, it was simply breathtaking.

A glass of bubbly arrived to whet our whistles while we perused the menu, which we’re pleased to say didn’t take long. The emphasis here is on good old-fashioned Mediterranean dishes – expect to see plenty of fresh fish, salads, pastas and a marvelous selection of steaks
and accompaniments.

We opted for a smoked salmon starter, followed by the chuck steak. Normally, we’re strictly a tenderloin or rib eye kind of girl, but at our waiter’s suggestion we relented.

Served with green apple, smooth cream cheese and a tangy sauce we couldn’t quite place, the salmon was delicious. We were slightly disappointed with the serving size, just two small slices of salmon, but then we always overdo it on the starters so this was probably for the best.

Our chuck steak arrived, cooked perfectly and sliced into small bite-sized pieces. With a dollop of delicious Parmesan mash and some crunchy veggies to boot, we were instantly pleased that we’d opted for something different. Our steak was moist and flavourful if a little fattier than we’re used to, but all the tastier for it. As for the Parmesan mash, well, it was a triumph.

If you have room for dessert we can thoroughly recommend the selection of Petit Fours – delicate, yet divine mouthfuls of chocolatey goodness. The perfect way to finish a meal.
