MUSS recognise top ten players

Children selected to represent soccer school at Abu Dhabi Skills Final

MUSS

The top ten players from the latest Manchester United Soccer Schools (MUSS) programme in Abu Dhabi were announced during a presentation at the Dome@Rawdhat.

Three hundred and fifty children participated in the latest MUSS module – the highest recorded since the soccer school launched in October 2010 – and the top ten point scorers battled against their peers in a series of skills challenges which tested their dribbling and ball control techniques.

Two children from each age group will now go forward to take part in the Abu Dhabi Skills Final to take place in autumn 2012.  They will be joined by ten more participants from the MUSS module two which starts on Saturday 7th January and by a further ten participants from module three which will begin in spring 2012.

All players who took part in the latest programme, which reflected the dynamic styles seen from Manchester United first team players like Danny Welbeck, Tom Cleverley, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling, received certificates and individual player evaluations from their coaches in front of parents, siblings and friends.

“The skills challenges are a great way to test the abilities of our players and chart their progress but the beauty is that they are age-handicapped so the seven year olds can compete fairly against the 16 year olds,” said Andy Dixon, head coach at MUSS Abu Dhabi.

“Of the 30 children we will put forward into the competition, the top two point scorers will receive an all expenses paid trip to Manchester to represent Abu Dhabi and compete against their peers from around the world, playing in front of 75,000 people at Old Trafford.”
