Scotland win inaugural Falcon Cup

Scotland won the inaugural Falcon Cup at Yas Links Golf Club this weekend, winning all nine matches against a spirited UAE team.

Despite a score-line which was dominated by the Scotland elite amateur national team, the UAE players fought well, playing close to par in the morning fourball on the stunning Kyle Phillips-designed course.

“I’m really very happy with the way the UAE team played in the morning,” said Chris Vallender, the UAE national coach.

“I’d like to express our thanks to the Scottish team for the opportunity to test ourselves against top class players and form strong relationships that will last into the future. The squad has learnt a lot and we look forward to next season.”

The Falcon Cup is part of ‘The Home of Golf in the UAE’ programme which is a long term partnership between ‘The Home of Golf’ – Scotland, and the Emirates Golf Federation to develop golfing ties between the two countries.
