Team UAE’s Ahmed Al Hameli put in a near perfect performance to clinch first place overall in the inaugural F1H20 Nations Cup in Singapore this weekend.
The Emirati star managed to hold off the challenge from Team Qatar’s Khalid Saleh Al Shamlan in a disjointed race that was stopped on three occasions by yellow flags.
Team UAE’s second driver Majed Al Mansoori looked set to take third position in the second of the ADTA-sponsored boats and round off the podium places, but he was adjudged to have touched a turn buoy and was handed a one-lap penalty, which promoted Team Qatar’s Khalid Abdullah Al Kuwari to the final podium.
“This is a fantastic result for our team and great practice for me before the next round of the F1 World Championship in Abu Dhabi in December,” said Al Hameli. “Now I can look ahead with excitement to the next race.”
