I love the 60s

I love spring fashion trends. They’re so alive, colourful and scream summer.

One of the biggest trends this season is the 1960s – looks from everything including hair to loafers. YSL, Marni, and Bottega Venetta dabbled into the trend, which I’m sure high street retailers will follow.

Ladies take note, when speaking about 1960s fashion trends; we could discuss this for hours, so in this case I’m going to divide the era into three different main looks that would hopefully inspire you to rock this trend.

Mod fashion

Who could forget Twiggy’s long legs and short hems? Look at this icon for inspiration and an update on this look. Consider elements such as

  • Bright block colours
  • Short boyish hairstyles
  • Wide eyes curtained by false lashes on the top and bottom
  • Penny loafers
  • Capes and swing coats

60s folk fashion

This is a softer look than the mod look. Think spirited fashion with the perfect combination of Parisian chic. Jane Birkin is the perfect inspiration when considering pulling off this look. Ladies it is also important to keep the following elements in mind:

  • Structured heavy lace pieces
  • Peter pan collars
  • Winged out eyeliner and fussy hair
  • Low rise belts

Sexy kitten Look

This look is the total opposite of the mod look. It is ultra feminine and all about embracing your curves. Think Sophia Loren and Elizabeth Taylor. Try:

  • Full circle skirts, pencil skirts and cropped pants, paired with pussy bow blouses
  • A red pout, long lashes, and lots of eye liner
  • Bed hair, or a full bouffant
