It is all about the bags

It is true what they say: Emirati and Khaleeji women pay more attention to their bags and shoes than on the rest of the outfit.

Bags are perfect accessories, which add a pop of chic and twist to an outfit. Allow me to introduce you to this season's bag trends:

The Mini Bag

Spotted at Hermes, Christian Dior, and Yves Saint Laurent, it is all about the mini bags. Classical bags such as the Hermes Birkin, and Chanel's 2.55 were given a twist by shrinking their size. The result: a much lighter carry on. However, sporting this trend will not allow you to carry anything except your phone and wallet. No make-up cases or extra junk ladies.

More affordable and trendy bags as well can be found at Massimo Dutti Abu Dhabi Mall and Mango in Marina and Abu Dhabi Mall.

The Neon- eye burning- bag

How to add a life to simple neutral colored outfit? Throw in a neon bag. In addition to stripes and the colour-blocking trend, this has to be my favorite accessory of the season. The "it" bag of the season has to be the bright yellow bag by the famous Celine fashion house. Priced at AED 15,000 + it is out of the league of many fashionistas. However, lucky for us, affordable alternatives are available at Miss Selfridge, Zara and River Island.

Abaya wearers, this is a statement accessory that adds an instant "ooh la la!" effect to your simple abaya.

The Fringe bag

While I am not a fan of this style, it would be silly of me to ignore this 'big on the catwalk' trend this season. Inspired by Native American heritage, this trend has taken over international runways such as that of Gucci, Tods, and Miu Miu as well as available at high street retailers such as Top Shop.

Sported mostly in neutral leathers, I prefer the shorter fringes as they seem more elegant. The longer fringe bag is the perfect accessory to a 1970s-inspired outfit, also a big trend this season.
