First comes summer, then come the hot trends, and a hot trend this season is denim. The last pair of jeans I bought last summer from Yorkshire, England were by Victoria Beckham. The reason I hadn’t bought any before, or indeed after, was that I never found the perfect pair that would make anyone go “Ooooh” or “aaaah”.
However this season, denim is not only fashionable, but back with a huge twist so I might as well stack my closet with more pairs.
The ‘nu’ denim look spotted on catwalks of Celine, Valentino and Derek Lam is minimalistic and sharply tailored.
Also on trend is casual and trendy hue denim such as baby pink, yellow, and white, spotted in all high street retailers around the capital such as Zara and Forever 21.
How to rock this look under your abaya? Simple …
- Pair light hue denim such as baby pink, yellow, and green with sexy tops. Go for a silk, ruffled, or a sheer blouse. Anything goes with white denim, but for a night look, try an embellished, or sequined top, metallic or vibrant heel and a statement cuff.
- If you’re like me and would rather pull off a timeless look, go for high waist skinny denim in black, and pair it with a striped top. Match with a pair of sneakers, or ballerinas for a laid back style. Zara offers many striped tops and tees to choose from, ranging from the classic hues, to the vibrant Prada-inspired tops!
- For a 70s look (also a huge trend this season) combine a printed silk or sheer blouse, with flared jeans. Accessorise with round sunglasses, a tan leather satchel and a thin leather belt. Look out for Reiss in Marina Mall for a variety of belt choices, and tops.
- Finally stand out by pulling off interesting denim pieces with unique details.
