RSTW at Manarat Al Saadiyat

Just for something different, visit Manarat Al Saadiyat for a quiet night out – there’s just enough time to catch the last of the RSTW exhibit which ends 24th January.

rstw01

The show features works by contemporary artists from the private collection of Larry Gagosian, including Rauschenberg, Ruscha, Serra, Twombly, Warhol and Wool. Curated by Anne Baldassari, the compilation gives visitors a glimpse into the world of Gagosian’s never-before seen private collection and showcases some of the leading names in Post-War American art, most notably some of Andy Warhol’s iconic pieces, including the four coloured prints of Marilyn Monroe.

It’s not a huge exhibition, so the amount of time it will take you get see it all depends on you. Have a quick wander, or take your time to read the literature and listen to the informative guided tour. In theory, you could come for dinner and make a night of it, but at the moment, the newly opened restaurant Fanr takes its last orders at 7.30pm and the exhibit closes at 8pm, so if you’re going for the evening, it’ll be an early one.

If you really want to make the most of the exhibit, check out Artscape RSTW:

An Evening of Cool Performances. Featuring performances by the UAE´s Takht Al Emarat and the Wayne Escoffery Quartet from New York´s Jazz at the Lincoln Centre and spoken word artist Hala Ali, Artscape RSTW will be an evening of jazz, films, art, spoken word and art workshops.
