Contraband

Desperate Times

contraband

Director: Baltasar Kormakur,
Starring: Mark Wahlberg, Giovanni Ribsi, Kate Beckinsale

If you are expecting your standard thriller storyline then you’ll be more than happy with this film, but it also offers a few twists and turns throughout to keep you on the edge of your seat. Set in New Orleans, Contraband is about the dark underground world of international smuggling and ruthless drug lords.

Wahlberg (once part of that world) returns to aid his brother-in-law who finds himself in a mess after a drug deal goes wrong. With the help from a few friends along the way, the gang embark on a trip to Panama to return with counterfeit bills.

All in all, it’s a basic ‘plan gone wrong’ storyline but plenty of fast paced action, and to-the-point scenes, makes it worth our while. The quality of acting is worth taking note, probably some of Mark Wahlberg’s best work!
