Supposedly a romantic comedy, this film unfortunately lacks two of the requisite characteristics – romance and comedy. Flat direction, over-reliance on clichés, unlikeable characters and a complete absence of originality all contribute to make this highly forgettable – quite how director Gary Marshall ever persuaded Robert De Niro to have any part in this is quite beyond us. If you’re already thinking of your New Year’s resolutions, we’ve got one for you – don’t watch this movie.
