Hilary Swank is Betty Anne Waters, a single mother and high-school drop-out whose older brother (Sam Rockwell) was sentenced to life in prison for murder in 1983
Convinced of her brother’s innocence, Waters puts herself through high-school, university and law school in an 18-year struggle to clear her brother’s name. Based on a true story, this film boasts an outstanding cast who help power through the slightly sentimental and somewhat dry story line.

I keep thinking Conviction has the premise of a David E. Kelley TV series, where the Kenny-theme could serve as a season long arc. The characters are interesting enough, but I was hoping for so much more. Conviction is by no means a bad film, but it's not a very good one either.
