Case 39

hardcaseOne can hardly say that Oscar winner Renée Zellweger is an actress who is easily stereotyped. She’s done westerns, dramas, comedies and musicals. So what’s left? Horror, obviously. And that’s exactly where we find our heroine this time.
In Case 39 she plays Emily, a family services social worker who thinks she has seen it all … until she meets her newest, most mysterious case, a troubled 10-year old girl (Ferland) who is being abused by her parents.
Emily’s worst fears are confirmed when the parents try to kill their only daughter. She saves the child and decides to take her in herself until the right foster family comes along. But it quickly emerges that the angel-faced moppet is not all she seems to be! Crag-faced Mc Shane leaves his TV ‘Deadwood” beat behind to play the investigating cop.
This creepy horror story has been in post-production for three years. Once you’ve seen it, you’ll know why!
