Saw 3D

Director: Kevin Greutert
Starring: Tobin Bell, Cary Elwes, Sean Patrick Flanery, Betsy Russell

A deadly battle is raging over Jigsaw’s brutal legacy. A group of Jigsaw (Bell) survivors have gathered to seek the support of self-help guru and fellow survivor, Bobby Dagen (Flanery). Soon though, the survivors must help themselves as Dagen’s secrets are uncovered and a new wave of terror is unleashed.

The 3D final chapter (let’s hope) of the long-running horror franchise delivers more of the same, only even more in your face.

The 3D is used as you might expect – this is no James Cameron immersive experience. Instead, blades jut out of the screen and there is no small amount of blood, guts and body parts literally flying all over the place. As always, Saw is a very visceral experience

Overall the movie is OK – not the best entry into the series, but not quite the worst. And even though it claims to be the final entry in the series, the film ends with a twist that leaves open the very real possibility of yet another sequel.

If you liked the previous movies, you’ll like this one too, but if you’re not a fan then Saw 3D will do nothing to change your mind.
