Killers

True lies gone wrong

truelies

Director: Robert Luketic
Starring: Katherine Heigl, Ashton Kutcher, Tom Selleck, Catherine O’Hara

Jen Kornfeldt (Heigl) is trying to recover from another sudden break-up while holidaying with her overbearing parents, when she meets the good-looking Spencer (Kutcher). One thing quickly leads to another and it’s soon wedding bells for the happy couple.

Fast forward three years and Spencer and Jen are still enjoying a picture-perfect marriage – until Jen discovers that in his previous life, Spencer was an assassin and, even worse, he is now the target of a multi-million dollar hit that is. As their suburban paradise turns into a paranoid game of dodge-the-bullet, they must find out who wants Spencer dead and why.

If this all seems very reminiscent of the hugely successful True Lies, it’s because it is. Unfortunately Killers doesn’t even reach the level of the less-well received Mr and Mrs Smith; the first half of the movie is classic rom-com but a bland, insipid performance from both leads, in addition to a severe lack of chemistry between the two, means that as the movie transforms into an action-thriller, any remaining interest in the story is well and truly killed off.

Genre: Action | Comedy | Romance | Thriller
Age Restriction: Rated PG-13 for violent action, sexual material and language.
