Agora

Agora – Dir Alejandro, starring Rachel Weisz, Max Minghella, Oscar Issac, Michael Lonsdale

atimelesstaleSet in Roman Egypt, Agora tells the tale of a slave who turns to the rising tide of Christianity in the pursuit of freedom – but at the same time falls in love with his master, the famous female philosophy professor (and atheist) Hypatia of Alexandria.

Despite criticism from Catholic pressure groups (the film has yet to find a distributer in Italy), Agora is an endearing story of love and faith, with a highly praised performance from Rachel Weisz and some beautiful cinematography.
