Fantastic Mr Fox

Fantastic Mr Fox – Dir Wes Anderson, starring George Clooney, Bill Murray, Meryl Streep

afluffystoryThis quirky, family-friendly stop-motion animation, adapted from the Roald Dahl classic, is a delightful tale that will play well with children and adults alike.

Mr Fox (George Clooney) is a clever and cunning creature – which means he’s often rubbing humans up the wrong way and getting himself in trouble. On one such occasion he has a run-in with three very angry farmers who get tired of finding their chickens, geese and cider stock missing. The farmers vow to find and kill Mr Fox.

After several failed attempts to catch Mr Fox, include a narrow escape for our hero that involved having his tail shot off, the farmers finally trap him and his family deep underground. Hungry and with no obvious way out, Mr Fox has to come up with a fantastically cunning plan to outdo the farmers; he uses his sharp nose, a good sense of direction and a great deal of wit to dig the family out of trouble for good.

This is a film well worth a family outing, a great story told well and with full support from an A-list array of voices. It’s Wes Anderson’s first stab at animation; this could well be an interesting new career direction for the director.
