Love Happens

Love Happens – Dir Brandon Camp, starring Aaron Eckhart, Jennifer Aniston, Dan Fogler

lovedoesntThere’s no denying that Jennifer Aniston has been unlucky in love off screen. On screen things are looking just as bad in this half-hearted humour-free rom-com.

Self-help therapist and author, Dr Burke Ryan (Eckhart) unwittingly finds himself on the way to sell-out success as his own loss helps others confront their own pain. But he can’t quite take his own advice when it comes to self-healing.

As he arrives in Seattle to teach a packed-out seminar, Dr Ryan bumps into Eloise Chandler (Aniston), a florist who has sworn off men. Despite the instant attraction, the couple find themselves having to confront their past in order to move forward together. Can Eloise fall for a man who can’t help himself find love?

Clichéd and bland, this is a film to steer clear of (unless you’re a fan of self-help phrases like “love happens when you least expect it”). And while Aniston is pleasant enough on screen, we can’t help but feel it’s high time she gave up on romance and went back to her funny roots.
