Giving back to neglected stomachs is a given, but what other plans have you got for Eid ul-Fitr? Abu Dhabi Week listens in.

Eid is all about family, food and Eid money! Morning prayers are followed by a grand breakfast, and a ritual of house hopping to meet relatives and friends. Lunch is somewhere in between, and the rest of the evening is an ‘open house’ at home, ending with an exquisite dinner.

During my three days off for Eid, I spend all my time with family. We visit family from my and my husband’s side of the family on the first day. And on the second and third, if the weather is good, we go camping. If not, we travel around the emirates – from Abu Dhabi to Al Ain, Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. We make sure to check out the nicest restaurants and take the kids to the mall for some movies and shopping which gives them a chance to spend their Eid money.

I’ve actually been living in the UAE for seven years and haven’t been able to find the time to discover Abu Dhabi until now due to three days off for Eid. I heard that there are a lot of nice places here so I will spend my time visiting all of them, especially Emirates Palace. Also, I am planning to invite my family to visit the rotating restaurant at the top of Marina Mall, which I am very excited about.

As a wife and a mother of two kids,
I will celebrate it together with my family by visiting places outside of Abu Dhabi that we’ve never been to before. I love to travel so even if the holiday is a little bit short, I'll see to it that I can visit my friends, brothers and sisters residing in other emirates. Also, since during Eid lots of shopping malls will have discounts and sales, I will definitely be doing some shopping for me and my family.
