Médecins Sans Frontières

Médecins Sans Frontières is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, healthcare exclusion and natural or man-made disasters.

goodcause

Founded in 1971 by a group of French doctors and journalists in the wake of the war between the province of Biafra and the Nigerian state, MSF has since provided emergency medical aid in more than 70 countries.

Getting involved

MSF relies on donations from individuals and groups. A popular way of lending support is through organised events. Recent successes in the UAE include the annual MSF Book Bazaar, held between the 3rd and 5th May at Abu Dhabi Mall. As with many independent organisations, MSF constantly seeks the support of those wishing to donate time or money to help.

With an estimated 195 million children worldwide suffering from the affects of malnutrition – 90 percent of which are living in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia, MSF are seeking to rewrite the story of childhood malnutrition. Malnutrition contributes to at least one third of annual deaths of children under five years old, simply because many families cannot afford to provide nutritious food. Right now, the international humanitarian food aid system provides nutritionally inadequate foods to those in need.

With World Food Day on 16th October, MSF is asking for your help. Get involved by visiting www.msf-me.org/starved-en to sign the Starved for Attention online petition. On World Food Day, MSF will present the petition to the top food aid donor countries.
