Dear Abu Dhabi Week,
Regarding your article [Vol4, Issue: 18] about drinking water from the tap, do you mean drinking directly from the tap, without any water filter attached? If you are saying that its safe to drink water directly from the tap, I believe you are wrong as I have seen my water filter candle turn from white to rust red! I would like to add another point, all the buildings have water storage tanks, how clean are they and are they cleaned regularly?
Elvis A Lobo

Editor: We asked the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi and a spokesperson had this to say: "The maintenance of the water tanks is the responsibility of building owners. So the cleanliness of the water tanks differs from building to building. Tenants should take an active role in ensuring that this maintenance is done properly, and regularly.

“Tap water is safe to drink provided you have a water filter installed as sometimes the water here may contain sediments. I personally have been drinking water from the tap for the last 20 odd years, and have never bought bottled water."

Have your say
