Paragon Mall welcomes Geant to Reem Island
Paragon Malls LLC will open a 32,000 sq ft Geant supermarket in Reem Island’s Marina Square in November.
The store will feature a cheese shop with more than 300 domestic and imported varieties, a separate French Bakery and an in-store Café. In addition there will also be a make-your-own trail mix bar, chef-prepared take-out meals and employees who will chop fresh fruit and vegetables in the produce aisles so customers can take home customised stir fries and salads.
In the meantime, to serve their immediate needs of Marina Square residents a Geant Easy market will be opening by April.
“The arrival of Geant is likely to raise the stakes for every grocery seller in Abu Dhabi,” said Mr Frank, general manager of Paragon Malls LLC.
With its fresh natural and organic products and international specialty food items, Geant will be giving it an outsized presence in the capital city.
“It’s the kind of zeal that has our competition on edge as we prepare for our debut on Reem Island at Marina Square,” said Abdulla Ally, Geant’s senior business development executive.
Paragon Malls LLC, a subsidiary of Tamouh and its mall operating company has signed a long-term lease agreement with Retail Arabia to develop the first Geant supermarket in Abu Dhabi.
Paragon Bay Mall itself is scheduled to open in 2013 and will be the first shopping centre in Abu Dhabi directly fronting a marina and waterfront promenade. The mall will include 125 retail shops and restaurants overlooking the skyline of the capital’s Central Business District.
“We have always been interested in Abu Dhabi and Reem Island for our expansion plans,” said Muhammad Ashfaq, business development manager for Geant. “Clearly, Marina Square, being a high-quality lifestyle community only 500-metres from Abu Dhabi’s Central Business District, presents a superior location for us.”
Geant - associated with Groupe Casino, the largest French-based supermarket retailer - will roll out more than 35 supermarkets and hypermarkets throughout the Gulf region over the next two years.
