In case you haven’t had a chance to pass through Emirates Palace this Ramadan, make the special effort to go before 3rd September to have a look at a piece of the Kiswah of the Kaaba, which is now on display under the main dome of the hotel. The Kiswah is the black cloth that covers the Kaaba – Islam’s most sacred site in Mecca.
The Kaaba is the cube-shaped building said to have been constructed by Abraham and his son Ishmael and around which Muslims are to walk seven times during Hajj, the pilgrimage to Mecca that Muslims are supposed to undertake at least once during their lives. The Kiswah is replaced every year, during Hajj, and a large, ornate piece of this rare and priceless cloth can now be viewed by anyone who wishes to see it. For more information call: 02 690 9000
