11th April: President’s Cup Final

President’s Cup Final – Al Jazira v Al Wahda

yourdiary

In London they have Arsenal v Spurs, in Madrid they have Real v Atlético and in Milan they have AC v Inter. Abu Dhabi has Al Jazira v Al Wahda.

The Zayed Stadium will roar into life on Monday evening as the capital’s two biggest teams battle it out to see who will be crowned President’s Cup champions.

Al Jazira are the team in form, sitting ten points clear at the top of the league table and aiming to be the first team in the UAE to complete the league and cup double. Having finished second in the league for the last three years in a row, they will need to hold their nerve if they want to lift the trophy for the first time in their 37-year history.

Despite an indifferent season so far, Al Wahda have the history and pedigree to shatter Jazira’s dreams of the double. Reigning league champions, Wahda won the President’s Cup in 2000 and will be looking to add to their trophy cabinet.

Which set of fans will be jubilant come Tuesday morning – will it be the ‘Black Spiders’ of Al Jazira or will the maroon and white of Al Wahda be flying high?

Abu Dhabi Week is giving away a pair of tickets to the final with every single copy of the magazine so you can be there to find out.

Kick-off: 5.55pm (gates open 4pm)
