2011’s Yas Island Show Weekends are kicking-off in stunning style with Rock and Blues guitar legend Eric Clapton performing at Yas Arena on Friday 11th. “Slowhand” Clapton’s epic career has spanned nearly five decades, six bands (including The Yardbirds, Cream and Derek and the Dominos) and incredible solo success.
Clapton has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame three times (as a member of both The Yardbirds and Cream and once as a solo artist), ranked fourth in Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time and has also been ranked fourth in Gibson’s “Top 50 Guitarists of All Time”. This hugely anticipated concert marks the 40th anniversary of the release of one of Clapton’s greatest albums: Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs. Such a momentous occasion can only bring hope to fans that they will be treated to some of Clapton’s greatest and most loved songs of the past 50 years, including Layla. As if that weren’t enough, the concert is following a day of excitement with the “Real Action Heroes” and their V8 Supercars on Yas Marina Circuit, continuing the following day on the 12th.
