It’s a webbed world!

Welcome to Abu Dhabi Week Online – your first port of call for anything you need to know about living in, working in, or visiting the Emirate. Our aim is to provide you with a single place that caters to everything Abu Dhabi, be it finding a new car, renting out your apartment, buying concert tickets, scheduling a driving test, finding out what gym to attend or knowing where the best restaurants are. And we will always have the coolest prize competitions around ...

What’s on the website?
Pretty much everything that has ever appeared in Abu Dhabi Week the magazine (and not just the most recent issues) – and then some. There’s tons of stuff on the more-than-1,400 pages of the site – it is a comprehensive guide to everything Abu Dhabi, including news, events, activities, reviews, business directories, classified advertisements and essential guides.

So there will be more news than we print in the magazine, and it’s updated at least twice a day; this will be your very best source of Abu Dhabi news. We’ll have listings, loads of them, and they’ll be checked and verified frequently. There’s a comprehensive ‘what’s on’ calendar featuring everything that’s going on in the Emirate, colour-coded by type of activity.

It doesn’t end there – we plan to add new features and more pages to the website, including extras that make the most of the plans we have for the magazine. So if it doesn’t exist yet, it probably
will soon!

Why register?
You don’t have to register to browse the site, but we’d like you to – that way we get to know a little about you, which in turn means we can make a better website and a better magazine for you.
Also, there are some things only registered users can do: you’ll need to register before you can enter our fabulous prize competitions, for instance, or comment on postings in the Forum. It only takes a moment or two to register, and once you’ve done that you can log in any time with your own chosen user name and password.

A This menu corresponds to the major sections of the magazine – there are drop-down submenus for each category to help you home in the articles you’re looking for.
Virtually everything we’ve ever printed in the magazine will be found here (we’ve left out some of the more
time-specific stuff)

B Use this simple Search box to look for something in the whole of the site’s contents – currently over 1,400 pages!

C This permanent rolling tickertape shows the latest news we’ve added. Want to read more? Click on the news item as it scrolls by.

D Here’s our collection of insights, information and practical advice about living and working in Abu Dhabi, based on the ‘Need to Know’ column we ran in the magazine and all available for easy download. We update these when new information becomes available.

E We’re famous for our competitions, so check out what’s on offer this time! There are always at least three contests of some kind running on the website – everything from spa treatments and dinner for two, to computers and weekends away have featured – and it’s really simple to enter. And to celebrate the launch of the website, we have no fewer than 23 competitions right now!

F Our weekly calendar is as complete a guide as you will find to what’s on in Abu Dhabi – the gigs, the concerts, the sports events, and more. And if you’re a registered user, you can even add your own events. The calendar can be organised in a day, week or month view – you choose – and entries are colour-coded by category. Click on any of them for more information about the event.

G As well as the permanently-scrolling tickertape towards the top of the page, we list here the most recent stories we’ve added to the website. Currently we update the news during the working week at least once a day, often more.

H We try to make life easy for you, so here we have one-click access to the most popular uses of Abu Dhabi Week Online – like the most extensive, up-to-date listings currently available for the most useful shops and services in town; our simple classified ads for buying and selling; the Forum, for opinions, comments and requests; the what’s-on calendar; and of course the famous Abu Dhabi Week competitions page.

I The main sections of the magazine are listed along the top, the main areas of the website are listed here. In many cases they provide alternative ways to get at the same information, but we want you to have as many routes into the website as possible.

J Register here. Why? Because unless you’re a registered user you won’t be able to enter competitions, post comments on stories, see the details of photos in the Gallery, or reply to or post classified ads. Registration is free, of course. Worried about us grabbing too much personal information? We guarantee to respect your privacy; we won’t be sending you incessant spam mail and we won’t be handing out your email address to all and sundry.
