With the news this week that the cost of living has once again risen in the capital, we thought it would be helpful to point out a few of the fun things you can still do for free in this fantastic city of ours.

This weekend there’s loads going on down on the Corniche at Al Sahil beach as the Abu Dhabi Beach Games Festival 2012 kicks off, running each weekend from now until 6th April. Starting from 11am on Thursday 22nd you can watch teams battle it out in a host of events, from soccer, volleyball, basketball and kite surfing to swimming, sailing, wakeboarding and stand up paddling.

Another series of free spectator events happening this week at the Ghantoot Racing and Polo Club will see teams vying for the HH President’s Polo Cup in the run up to the final event next Friday 30th. All matches are free to attend, taking place on 22nd, 24th, 26th and 28th from 4.30pm.

Want something closer to home? Then why not support one of your local teams at the Quins Touch Rugby Tournament happening at Zayed Sports City this Saturday? Matches kick off at 11am and will go on all day so get down there early to pick out your favourite players to cheer on.

Has all this activity got you in the mood to get moving yourself? Well how about heading out to the Hed Kandi Moon Pool Party at Le Royal Méridien tonight. Ladies get in free before 9pm, but don’t forget your swimsuit!

Not your scene? Then try hopping islands and heading to Allure at Cipriani as it welcomes Trix Reloaded for a night of hits from DJ Trix, Soul Ninja and Cliff Townley.
