Counting the days

After a long, slow summer, Abu Dhabi’s calendar is filling up fast.

Did you realise, for example, that it’s only 100 days till the Volvo Ocean Racing team comes sailing into the capital? As if New Years Eve wasn’t going to be dazzling enough, the colourful pageantry of the Everest of Sailing should see the Corniche packed with spectators. Even better, one of our lucky readers could win the chance to go sailing with the team – check out our competition on page 7.

No matter how you feel about motor sports, no one in Abu Dhabi can miss that epic date 11-11-11 and the kick off of the third Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Formula One at Yas Marina Circuit. Only 50 short days away, this year’s race – and all of the fantastic shows, concerts and events that go along with it – promises to be even more exciting than ever before.

Just who will play that first epic concert of the Formula One weekend? You’ve only got four more days of waiting before we find out all the many Yasalam events you’ll want to plan to attend – from the Corniche to Yas Island, there’s literally something for everyone happening in the next few weeks. Watch for the full line-up to be announced 26th September.

And while 100 days is still pretty far away, there’s only one more day till the Abu Dhabi Saracens go toe-to-toe with the Abu Dhabi Harlequins in the capital’s very own rugby throw down at Al Ghazal Golf Club.

We hear about more and more events that are coming up every day, so keep your calendar close by and an eye on Abu Dhabi Week to find out everything you need to know about where to go and what to do for the next 100 days – and beyond.
