Up and at ‘em!

Now that the holidays over and it’s back to reality (with a bump) this week we’ve been thinking of ways to revamp our routine. After all there’s nothing worse than coming back after a break and sliding back into daily drudgery.

We’ve decided to get active! It’s the Road to Awareness Run for Children at Aloft Abu Dhabi this Friday, and we’ll be there running around the air-conditioned halls of ADNEC, raising funds for UNICEF’s schools programme in Romania and Pakistan. It’s only a few dirhams to take part and you only have to run (or walk) a few kilometres so why not get the family together and head
on down?

It will help kick start your new fitness regime, and burn off some of those Ramadan pounds. As will a visit to one of the new Tribal Survivor, Sport and Body sessions at Al Ghazal Golf Club, home of Abu Dhabi’s newest rugby team, the Saracens. Everyone is welcome and the classes, held Mondays, Wednesdays and Sundays at 7pm and Saturdays at 8am, will cater to all fitness levels.

If you’re already fit and fancy trying out for a local footy team, then Abu Dhabi Thistle FC start trials on 12th September from 6pm-8pm at Zayed Sports City.

Meanwhile Abu Dhabi’s rugby veterans the Harlequins begin their trial sessions on Thursday 15th September, again at Zayed Sports City from 6pm. Don’t fancy playing on the official team then the Harlequins also host an informal touch rugby night on Tuesdays from 6pm. Come along and join a team or make up your own.

If all that sounds like far too much hard work then why not try a session of yoga to stretch out those stiff muscles. Read our review of the OnetoOne’s Vinyasa sessions with the lovely Sasha or hop on down to Khalidiya Mall and sign up for one of their free (yes, we said free) yoga sessions.

So get moving!
