Beat the heat

With so much talk of kids summer activities in this issue we thought it would only be fair to give all of our readers without children a few suggestions on how to keep themselves busy over the long, hot summer months.

But what else is there besides the obvious trip to the mall or the prospect of a DVD marathon on your best friend’s sofa? Well, quite a lot as we discovered.

What about getting behind the wheel of a V8 Chevrolet Camero and racing your friends down the drag strip at Yas Marina Circuit (9th June, 15th and 16th June)?

Lose yourself in a book at Abu Dhabi’s new Al Nahyan Camp library (near the OnetoOne Hotel). It’s not a huge space, but it offers a wonderful alternative from a noisy coffee shop or mall café if you just can’t tear yourself away from your favourite novel. Look out for the new Abu Dhabi Mall library – opening soon!

If you haven’t already, get yourself out to Manarat Al Saadiyat to catch the last few days of the Splendours of Mesopotamia exhibition, which closes on 27th June. While you’re there don’t miss out on sampling a tasty treat at the new Fanr restaurant.

Or why not book yourself and a friend in for a luxurious two-hour hammam and facial treatment at The Yas Hotel and only pay for the hammam? We tried it ourselves and can thoroughly recommend it. See next week’s issue for the full review.

This weekend there’s also the chance to catch the Thriller LIVE! show at the FLASH Forum on Yas Island (9th and 10th June). That’s right, get your white gloves and glitter jackets out for a night of moonwalking fun.

See you there!
