Going green

With the arrival of Abu Dhabi’s first organic street market this Friday at Masdar City, our thoughts are focused on all things green – and yummy organic food of course.

We’re a few weeks into a healthy eating plan ourselves. After years of stuffing our faces with a little bit of what we fancied (err, rather a lot as it turned out) we have now placed ourselves in the capable hands of Abu Dhabi’s organic food delivery specialists D-Club.

Each day a little green paper bag is delivered to our office containing breakfast, lunch, dinner (and two snacks). All the ingredients are fresh and organic so we’re now feeling rather virtuous, and have even started to shift a few pounds.

We’ll be reviewing their service in more detail in a couple of weeks, but in the meantime they’ll be at The Market@Masdar City this weekend so you can check them out for yourselves.

We’re most excited about seeing the display from Abu Dhabi Organic Farm though. We took a trip out to their organic food market this week in Al Mushrif – Mazaraa. It’s crammed full of wonderful fresh veggies (straight from the farm) as well as dates, honey and chocolate. It was all we could do to stop ourselves buying everything on the shelves so we can’t wait to see what they’ll have on offer at the Masdar market on Friday.

Don’t fancy trekking all the way to the market? Then why not book a table at Le Bistro at Le Méridien? Just this week they announced a new menu of sustainable, organic cuisine. Their head chef has even created a garden on the terrace – homegrown grub no less!
