For a good cause

This week we’re all about fundraising as we gear up for a weekend of table-top sales, waiter races and charity gala dinners.

First up is the Hilton’s Support Japan Table-Top Sale at the Hiltonia Beach Garden this Friday 22nd April. From 3pm Abu Dhabi Week will be there, selling a range of items as well as some delicious baked goods. You know the saying: ‘one man’s junk is another man’s treasure’? Well, we’re hoping that’s true. We’ll also have a jar on our stand for donations so even if you don’t fancy buying anything, drop by and give us your loose change.

Hot footing it from the sale, we’ll be donning our glad rags for a night of delicious food and entertainment at the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr for the Special Care Centre’s annual gala dinner.

To date the centre’s Donate a Brick campaign has raised a whopping AED 1.2 million towards a new facility for SCC, and we’re hoping to add to that figure on Friday. Just in case there are any tickets left, contact Barbara: 050 818 9798.

After a good night’s rest we’re off to the Rotana’s inaugural Waiter Race on Saturday 23rd April. Starting at 2pm in Khalifa Park, this promises to be a fun day out for the whole family, with entertainment for the kids, a DJ and the races of course. Most of the city’s hotels are represented so come along and cheer for your favourite team as they battle it out to see who has the fastest waiters in Abu Dhabi! All funds raised at the races will go to the Abu Dhabi Ability Centre.

If you’ve got nothing to do this weekend, all of these events promise to be fun and raise funds for some worthy causes so get up off that sofa and come along!
